Mary Jane given reprieve, 8 others executed

Convicted Filipina drug trafficker Mary Jane Veloso was given reprieve, while seven foreigners and one Indonesian’s executions pushed through. Indonesian President Widodo reportedly called for an emergency Cabinet meeting after learning that Veloso’s illegal recruiter surrendered to Philippine government.

According to Indonesia’s Attorney General Tony Spontana “there was a request from the Philippine president regarding the perpetrator who’s suspected of committing human trafficking and surrendered in the Philippines. MJ is needed for her testimony.”

Veloso’s recruiter who allegedly tricked her to bring 2.6 kilos of heroin surrendered to Nueva Ecija Provincial Office on Tuesday.

Kristina Sergio whose real name is Christine Pasadilla and her live-in partner Julius Lacanilao submitted their selves to authorities for they were afraid that Veloso’s family might take revenge.
