900 Filipino soldiers engage 40,000 Chinese Army: Remembering Battle of Yuldong

The Armed Forces of the Philippines and representatives from the Republic of Korea (South Korea) remember the heroism and gallantry shown by Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK) soldiers during the 64th Anniversary of the Battle of Yuldong last April 23 at the Korean War Memorial Pylon, Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

“We should always remember the PEFTOK soldiers for their heroism, sacrifices and invaluable service not just to the country but to the attainment of world peace as well,” said Marine Brigadier General Martin Pinto, Assistant Chief of the AFP Intelligence Staff.

“BGen Pinto stressed the acts of conspicuous courage and gallantry in action shown by then Captain Conrado Yap, a medal of valor awardee and the 900 Filipino soldiers led by Lt Col Artiaga who engaged the more or less 40,000 Chinese People’s Volunteers Army and North Korean People’s Army in a bitter close quarter fighting,” Philippine Army said.
