Indonesia’s Jokowi tells PNoy: Mary Jane’s execution will need to be enforced

Political, judicial and personal appeals were made for the life of convicted Filipino drug trafficker Mary Jane Veloso, however, Indonesia will still enforce the execution that may take place today.

Indonesia’s court rejected yesterday, April 27 Philippine government’s second appeal to review the case of Veloso. President Aquino also met Indonesia President Joko Widodo at the sidelines of ASEAM Summit in Malaysia to appeal for Veloso’s life.

Following the meeting of the two Presidents, “President Widodo this evening (April, 27) instructed his Foreign Minister to convey to the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs the final view of the Indonesian Attorney General that there is no basis to reconsider the death sentence, that the execution will need to be enforced,” Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said.
