Death toll in Nepal reaches 3,351

Nepal Home Affairs Ministry spokesman Laxmi Dhakal said today, the number of dead bodies recovered from the earthquake incident on Saturday, April 25 reached 3,351. The 7.8-magnitude quake which hit central, western, mid-western and far-western parts of Nepal injured 6,833 people and damaged billions of U.S. dollar worth of properties.

“The Filipino people join the rest of the world in expressing sorrow and concern for our brothers and sisters in Nepal, as they contend with the destruction wrought by the earthquake,” said President Noynoy Aquino today.

“The Philippine government will be communicating with our counterparts in Nepal, to offer assistance. We are prepared to, and consequently taking steps to, render aid to the maximum of our limitations,” the President added.

Personnel from Philippine embassy in New Delhi, India was deployed to Nepal to meet the needs of Filipinos in Nepal.
