Chinese paper says Balikatan 2015 inappropriate, intrudes South China Sea

An editorial posted in English language Chinese tabloid called US and Philippines Exercise Balikatan 2015 as inappropriate joint military exercises which intrudes South China Sea. According to Global Times, Philippines is nothing more than the “cute little submissive” of the United States.

“Despite Philippine President Benigno Aquino III’s repeated stresses that the exercise is not intended to be against China, few believe he means it,” the Chinese tabloid said. Global Times is owned by the official newspaper of the Chinese government, People’s Daily.

“The drill was abruptly doubled this year, and is located only 220 kilometers away from China’s Huangyan Island (Bajo de Masinloc),” Global Times claims.

“The joint exercises are designed to increase our capability to defend our country from external aggression. It is to test how ready and how effective we can operate with our American allies in both humanitarian and security operations,” said AFP-Public Affairs Office chief Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc.
