Aquino told to convene National Security Council in light of China’s creeping invasion

Senator Chiz Escudero is calling on President Benigno Aquino III to convene the National Security Council to address China’s aggressive behavior and massive reclamation activities in West Philippine Sea, seen as creeping invasion. Magdalo party-list Representative Ashley Acedillo earlier appealed to Aquino to the same for the same purpose.

“It might indeed be best to convene the NSC in order to bring everybody in the loop given that this is an issue facing our country and people regardless of political affiliation,” Senator Escudero said.

“All branches of the government must work together in unison. We bring the best minds, the soundest judgment, and the best intentions for the country to stand at its best on an issue that is every Filipino’s claim,” the senator adds.

The National Security Council is a collegial body chaired by the President. It includes concerned officials from military, Cabinet and Congress as members, as well as other government officials and private citizens who may be invited by the President.
