BIFF bombs police, military detachments proving they still exist

Lawless group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters launched series of attacks against police and military bases to prove that they still exist after the death of their founder Umbra Kato and weeks of all-out military offensive. No one was hurt after the attacks.

Maguindanao Police Director Senior Supt. Rodelio Jocson said attacks were carried out in towns of Shariff Aguak, Datu Hofer and Datu Salibo last night, Sunday.

Jocson said first attack was at a detachment of police commandos near Maguindanao police provincial office in Camp Datu Akilan Ampatuan. BIFF landed two rifle grenades.

After 20 minutes, BIFF fired six rounds of 60mm mortars towards 43rd Special Action Company detachment near the provincial hospital of Maguindanao in Datu Hoffer.

At 7 p.m., the BIFF attacked military’s 2nd Mechanized Battalion in Datu Salibo using rifle grenades.
