Armed Forces of the Philippines made its most strong statement against China’s aggressive behavior and massive reclamation in West Philippine Sea. During a press conference before the opening ceremony of Exercise Balikatan 2015, AFP Chief-of-Staff General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. said China stop now and Philippines has the right to raise voice.
“We call on China to stop its reclamation activities and to be mindful of its responsibilities as a claimant state and an important member of the international community,” the top military official said.
General Catapang also showed latest photos of Chinese activities in West Philippine Sea. He said China is working in fast pace, “but I hope it’s not furious.”
“We have compelling reason to raise our voice and to tell the whole world of the adverse effects of China’s aggressiveness that has created tensions not only among the countries that have overlapping claims in the area, but also among countries around the world who are using the international sea lanes in the West Philippine Sea for trade and commerce,” the General explained.
