Government of the Philippines will be finding out more on United States’ plan on bringing its newest and most capable weapons systems in Asia-Pacific region.
“We will find out more about what these plans involved,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said. “We welcome this [however] we have not talked about to what extent this would happen.”
Del Rosario will be travelling to US in two weeks to meet US officials and lawmakers.
US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said that US and Philippine governments are working on ways to strengthen military-to-military cooperation and the newest and most capable weapons systems will go first in the region.
Philippines and US have entered into an Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement, however, the agreement’s constitutionality is currently being questioned at the Supreme Court.
