The Philippine national football team, Azkals, was grouped with some of Asia’s toughest teams for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Clustered along with Philippines in Group H are North Korea, Bahrain, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
The qualifiers will run from June until March of 2016. The same groupings will be used for the 2019 Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup qualifiers.
Azkals, which is on rank 139th, will first face ranked 108th Bahrain on June 11, Uzbekistan on September 8, Yemen on November 12 and North Korea on March 29 next year.
The eight group winners (Group A to H) and the four best group runners-up will advance to the third round of FIFA World Cup qualification as well as qualify for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup finals.
