Members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines voluntarily gave PhP30 of their subsistence allowance to the beneficiaries of 44 elite policemen who died during the January 25 Mamasapano operation. The AFP gathered PhP3,565,410.00. The fund was turned over to PNP Officer-in-Charge General Leonardo Espina by AFP Chief-of-Staff General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. today.
“We are very thankful to our soldiers for extending a helping hand to their brothers in law enforcement. This is a generous manifestation of the bond of camaraderie that unites the military and police establishments that has been very successful in maintaining peace and order and enforcing the law,” General Espina said.
“We have recognized the financial needs of the family members who were left by by our gallant policemen. This is a simple gesture of appreciation from their partners from the armed forces,” General Catapang said.
The PNP also gathered PhP12 million for the beneficiaries of SAF44 through its fund raising projects.
