BCDA prepares terms for 82-km Malolos-Clark-Tarlac electric rail

The government-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority is currently preparing the Terms of Reference for the public bidding of Clark Rail Transit System that will run from Malolos, Bulacan though Clark to Tarlac city. The Clark rail will connect with North-South Commuter Railway.

“Offhand, BCDA will provide the land needed including substantial areas for commercial development at every station. The private JV partner will plan, design, finance, build, operate and maintain the Clark Rail,” BCDA President and CEO Arnel Paciano D. Casanova said. The line will be electric powered and will involve 82 kilometers of double back track with approximately 13 stations. Alignment is still being studied.

“We are considering to put the Clark Rail on a new alignment that would allow us to provide the area needed for the commercial development at every station,” Cassanova added.

BCDA is looking to bid out the project before the end of this year.
