AFP on red alert for ‘Chedeng’

Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Gregorio Pio Catapang, Jr. declared a red alert status among AFP units in Luzon in preparation for typhoon ‘Chedeng’. Northern Luzon Command, Southern Luzon Command, Central Command and Joint Task Force National Capital Region of AFP are now on red alert.

As the typhoon entered Philippine Area of Responsibility all other Unified Commands of AFP were put on blue alert status. The red alert status is in connection with National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s announcement yesterday, April 1.

“The Disaster Response Operations teams under the aforementioned major units are placed on standby to support the local government and the office of the Civil Defense for possible humanitarian and disaster relief missions in calamity-affected areas,” AFP said.
