Senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. said he is thoroughly studying the possibility of running for president in the upcoming 2016 national elections. He told dzMM radio on Saturday, March 21 that as default, he is to seek a re-election.
The senator said many are telling him to run for the highest position in national government and he can possibly win. “Pinapakinggan ko naman silang lahat at syempre nakakataba ng puso na malakas ang suporta nila sa atin. Pag-aaralan natin ng mabuti iyan.”
In the recent Pulse Asia presidential survey, Senator Marcos placed sixth with 6% of Filipinos voting for him if the election took place March 1 to 7 this year. The same survey says that VP Binay is still at top position with 29%, followed by Senator Poe with 14%, Manila Mayor Erap and Davao city Mayor Duterte with 12%, Senator Miriam with 9%. Chiz and Mar are tied at 7th place with 4%.
At 8th, 9th positions are Senators Cayetano and Trillanes. Dick Gordon and Ping Lacson tied at tenth place with 1%.
Among the persons listed in the survey only VP Binay confirmed candidacy under UNA. While Senator Trillanes said last week that he will run in the vice-presidential race, however, it is not yet confirmed if he is running under Nacionalista party or under a coalition with Liberal Party.
Individuals who expressed that they are considering to run are Mayor Duterte, Senator Cayetano and Senator Santiago. While Senators Poe, Escudero and Secretary Roxas are yet to reveal their plans for 2016. Mayor Erap is considering to seek for re-election in Manila, saying he is done with presidency.
