Global Youth Day: Young people move to ‘be the sermon’

Around 300 young people gathered in Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City, Metro Manila and thousands more in different parts of the Philippines to participate in the annual celebration of Global Youth Day (GYD) on Saturday, March 21.

These young people mobilized themselves to share food, offer fruits in exchange for throwing cigars, visit patients in hospitals, offer free hugs and show random acts of kindness to passersby.

“Instead of listening to one more sermon today. These young people are mobilized on the streets of our villages, towns, and cities to be the sermon,” said Princess Ann Ignacio, event coordinator of Global Youth Day in Manila.

“The positive reactions of the people are amazing, and some of them are teary eyes, we also offer prayer for them,” she added.

According to Princess, GYD is an international annual event participated by about 8 million young members of Seventh-day Adventist Church around the world to “be the sermon” for the day.
