Mother tried to board plane in NAIA with baby in backpack

A 2-month-old baby was discovered by Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 security personnel inside a backpack Monday, March 16, as reported by ABS-CBN. The baby who is sleeping soundly on his mother’s backpack was discovered through an x-ray machine. The baby’s mother is Jenifer Pavolaurea from Papua New Guinea, who was identified through Vicente L. Guerzon Jr., Assistant General Manager for Security and Emergency Services of the Manila International Airport Authority.

Pavolaurea is a nursing graduate and an over staying alien. She was set to board Air Niugini, which was scheduled to leave for Port Moresby at 11 p.m. The 25-year-old single mother confessed that she tried to sneak in her son out of the country for she does not have the required immigration clearance for his departure.

No charges were filed, however, she was turned over to a certain John Frederick Camarines and was eventually allowed to leave the country.
