Court of Appeals stops implementation of Mayor Binay’s suspension

Sixth Division of the Court of Appeal temporarily stops the implementation of the Makati Mayor Junjun Binay’s 6-month suspension order. The 60-day temporary restraining order was issued shortly after Department of Interior and Local Government National Capital Region Director Renato Brion served the order by posting the letter of suspension at the city hall’s entrance at around 8:20 am today.

The appellate court scheduled to hear, on March 30 and 31, Mayor Binay’s appeal to nullify the suspension order.

The suspension order issued by the Office of the Ombudsman was in connection with the alleged overpriced Makati City Hall Building II.

Makati City Vice Mayor Romulo Peña already took oath as acting mayor after the mayor’s suspension order was served.
