Senate Majority Leader Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is ready to leave President Aquino’s administration alliance if the alliance wants him out for his strong opposition on passing the Bangsamoro Basic Law as is without changing any major provision. Cayetano is a member of Nacionalista Party which is an ally of administration’s Liberal Party.
“We are one in saying that we can’t pass the BBL as is, and we want the government to take a firmer stand in its dialogues with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front,” the senator said as quoted by Manila Bulletin. He added that they are not moved by the President’s stand that critics should give solutions because NP is an ally which gives criticisms and solutions.
“We have been allies on many issues. Nagkaiba lang naman sa pork barrel at BBL. I was immediately for the abolition of the pork barrel system,” he explained.
In his privilege speech delivered Wednesday, he said “we should negotiate for peace but we should be ready to fight for peace. We should live for peace but we should be ready to die for peace.”
“We’ve been fooled by MILF that they want peace when all they want is absolute power,” he noted.
