The Philippine government is set to receive first of three brand-new C-295 twin-turboprop tactical military transport aircraft from Airbus Military within March 23 to 25. The Department of National Defense will receive the aircraft at Clark Air Base in Pampanga.
“It will serve as additional transport support to the armed forces’ requirements [with] the three existing C-130s,” Air Force spokesman Lt. Col Enrico Canaya said.
“The Airbus Military C295 is a new generation, very robust and reliable, highly versatile tactical airlifter able to carry up to nine tonnes of payload or up to 71 personnel,” the manufacturer said.
The Department of National Defense contracted Airbus Military to supply the Philippine Air Force with three C295 planes worth PhP 5,288,609,983.99 last year. Notice to Proceed was received by the firm March 28 last year.
