“We’ve been fooled by MILF that they want peace when all they want is absolute power,” Senator Alan Peter Cayetano said in his privilege speech at Senate. He questioned the peace panel of Philippine government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front for saying that if the Bangsamoro Basic Law will not be passed war is looming. “Bakit tila binigay ng gobyerno ang lahat ng hiningi ng MILF?”
He said that no single bill is more important than justice. Cayetano called on the government to focus not on the Bangsamoro Basic Law, but on lasting peace. “Reconciliation must be accompanied by justice, otherwise it will not last.”
“We should negotiate for peace but we should be ready to fight for peace. We should live for peace but we should be ready die for peace,” the Senator emphasized.
