Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” S. Binay Jr. will not step down amid suspension order from the Office of the Ombudsman. “I will exhaust all available remedies. I will continue discharging my duties as mayor until all legal remedies have been respected. While I belong to the opposition, I am still entitled to my rights like any Filipino citizen,” the mayor said.
He claims that his family is being unfairly treated. According to him, there are special Senate hearing, special Commission on Audit audit, special panel from the Ombudsman, and now, special express suspension.
He also blamed Interior and Local Government Secetary Mar Roxas and his ‘operators’. “Sino ang implementing agency ng aking suspension? Ang DILG na pinamumunuan ni Secretary Roxas.”
The mayor’s camp filed a petition for certiorari in the Court of Appeals to issue a temporary restraining order against his six months suspension.
