AFP in transition to territorial defense, aiming for world-class forces

“The Armed Forces of the Philippines has been transitioning to territorial defense and the Armed Forces of the Philippines Transformation Roadmap (AFPTR) is a potent force to guide us to this objective. Without this overall roadmap, we cannot reach our goal to become a world class Armed Forces in the near future,” AFP spokesman Brigadier General Joselito Kakilala said as quoted by Interaksyon.com.

Armed Forces of the Philippines Transformation Roadmap is a fifteen-year strategy, initiated in 2013, to transform the military into a world-class armed forces that is a source of national pride through the development of our capabilities and further professionalization of our ranks, in the framework of security sector reform.

AFPTR aims for three strategic outcomes: Capable of securing the country from aggression or invasion; Operationally successful in reducing internal armed threat to inconsequential level; and Responsive to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response.
