The Armed Forces of the Philippines is getting PhP30 billion this year for its modernization. The Department of Budget and Management said AFP Modernization Program will receive a budget of PhP20.0 billion from the allotment of AFP General Headquarters as well as PhP10.0 billion from the 2015 Unprogrammed Funds.
“This is a welcome development that would truly enhance the AFP’s capacity and capability in order to effectively accomplish our mission areas such as in internal security operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, territorial defense operations, peacekeeping operations, and international defense and security engagements,” newly AFP spokesman Brig. Gen. Joselito Kakilala said in a statement.
“Safeguarding the country will depend on the ability of the PNP and the AFP to promote the rule of law and defend national sovereignty, respectively,” DBM said.
The Army, Navy, Air Force and GHQ were allotted with PhP95.8 billion in the 2015 General Appropriations Act.
