Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ordered the decrease on flag-down fare on all air-conditioned taxi services nationwide effective Monday, February 9. Existing PhP40 flag-down rate will be decreased to PhP30 due to the decrease in oil prices in the world market.
“While this Board as a regulatory agency, has in mind the interest and concerns of public land transport operators, we need to be more mindful of our primary mandate of serving the interest of the riding public,” LTFRB’s Winston Ginez said.
LTRFR said it considered reports and economic analysis of government agencies like the Department of Energy and the Department of Trade and Industry.
Passengers will still see PhP40 flag-down rate, however, at the end of the trip taxi drivers must charge their passengers less PhP10 of the total computed fare.
