Nearly 1 trillion worth of rail, mass transit, airport projects to be completed in 5 years

The Department of Transportation and Communications Undersecretary Rene Limcaoco updated the Senate that the nearly PhP1-trillion worth of infrastructure projects is already on the process. “It is important for the public to be aware of these programs so we can ensure and monitor that these plans will be completed at the soonest possible time,” Senator Bam Aquino said.

According to Senator Aquino, Limcaoco said that PhP890 billion worth of rail and other mass transit projects will make nine additional lines and three other terminals, accommodating an added 2.2 million daily passengers. Expansion and modernization of the country’s major and international airports worth PhP77.47 billion are also in the pipeline.

“The projects will establish 140 additional passenger stations and 120 kilometers of additional road and rail mass transit that will cut down average travel time from two-and-a-half hours to just one hour,” Senator Aquino said in a press statement.

The rail and other mass transit projects will be completed in the span of five years while the airport projects will be done within three years.
