First ever PHL subway system up for NEDA approval

Country’s first subway system is now for National Economic and Development Authority Board approval. “There’s going to be a NEDA Board on March 24 and two PPP projects would be up for approval or discussions,” Public-Private Partnership Center Executive Director Cosette Canilao said. The second project is the Php 19.3-billion Motor Vehicle Inspection System.

The first subway system, 12-kilometer Mass Transit System Loop, will connect fast-developing central business districts of Metro Manila, namely Bonifacio Global City, Makati Central Business District, and the Mall of Asia area in Pasay City. The project may cost PhP 370-billion.

There are two proposed route: one that will 26th Street and the other that will utilize 32nd Street inside the Bonifacio Global City. PPP Center prefers the one that will use 26th Street. The line will connect MRT Taft, LRT1 Buendia, PNR
Buendia and MRT Buendia for the 32nd Street option or MRT Ayala for the 26th Street option.
