The two armed AgustaWestland AW-109 “Power” helicopters which have been in the country since December of last year are set to be commissioned on the 117th anniversary of Philippine Navy on May 27.
In Navy spokesperson Col. Edgard Arevalo’s message to government-run news agency on Sunday, he said “we’re hoping to commission them by our anniversary this May.”
The armed choppers are part of the five-helicopter deal costing PhP1.33 billion. The other three were already commissioned last December 22, 2013.
First two out of eight armed AgustaWestland AW-109E helicopters of Philippine Air Force were also delivered last year.
