US Navy P-8A Poseidon patrols West PHL Sea

The United States Navy logged 180 flight hours during a three-week detachment in Philippines using the most advanced long range anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare aircraft in the world, the P-8A Poseidon.

“It was a remarkable opportunity to work alongside the members of the Filipino Armed Forces,” said U.S. Navy Lt. Matthew Pool, Combat Air Crew 4 patrol plane commander. “Sharing this aircraft’s capabilities with our allies only strengthens our bonds.”

US Navy together with members of Philippine Navy and Air Force had bilateral patrol mission in airspace off of Luzon Island. It allowed U.S. Navy air crews to demonstrate the P-8A’s capabilities. The air crew also explained the operation of the aircraft’s multi-mission sensors, US Navy reports.
