Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada is against his nephew, former Laguna governor ER Ejercito’s plan to do a movie about the 44 Special Action Force commandos killed in Mamasapano encounter last January 25.
“Why would he do that movie?” Erap asked. “As a movie actor, I don’t see any good reason to make it as a movie. It could be in bad taste,” Mayor Estrada said in a telephone interview with The Philippines Star.
“It’s a waste of money and time. The tension is still very high. It will only generate animosity. There is nothing to be proud about the incident. I am very much against it,” the former president added.
According to Ejercito, the movie is a “tribute to honor our new valiant heroes and will soon be legends.”
The movie’s working title is 44 SAF – Special Action Force: Para sa Diyos. Para sa Bayan. The movie will be directed by Pedring Lopez.
