Gov’t peace panel chief Ferrer: No Moro Islamic Liberation Front weapons factory in Maguindanao

There is no weapons factory in Maguindanao owned by Moro Islamic Liberation Front, government peace panel chair Professor Miriam Coronel Ferrer told ABS-CBN News Channel today.

“It’s not there. We know, we have checked the area. We did our own checking and what we found out is the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters has its own [improvised explosive device] factory in the area,” Ferrer said.

The weapons factory in Barangay Katol, General Salipada Pendatun, Maguindanao was mentioned by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano during the third day of Senate probe regarding the Mamasapano Special Action Force operation.

“Can you tell me why this address is significant? Isn’t this the address of the place where the MILF manufactures firearms?” the senator asked MILF chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal.

Senator Cayetano also mentioned the Bangsamoro Military Industries which has three factories.

Iqbal, during the said hearing, said he does not have information on the mentioned weapons factory.
