Philippine Navy is allocating PhP36.7-million for the structural repair and drydocking of BRP Miguel Malvar. PS-19 is one of the Miguel Malvar class patrol corvettes of the Philippine Navy. She was commissioned February 1977.
She is among PN’s World War II-era ships and is also one of the world’s oldest active warships in service.
BRP Miguel Malvar first served the US Navy as USS PCER-852 in 1944. She was first assigned in the Atlantic theatre of operations engaged in patrolling and training.
Winning firm is given 100 days to complete the repairs.
She is currently assigned with the Patrol Force of the Philippine Fleet, and is considered as one of the most decorated ship of the Navy.
