27 SAF troopers received shots on head – CIDG

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group released an initial medico-legal report for forty-four Special Action Force troopers who were killed in Mamasapano, Maguindano last January 25 in an operation that also killed Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan.

Initial findings say: 9 were shot in the head; 18 suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the head, trunk and extremities; and 17 sustained gunshot wounds in the trunk and extremities.

The report also revealed that three elite policemen were not wearing bullet proof vests or their vests were removed before they sustained shots. All of the commissioned officers sustained gunshot wounds on head except Police Senior Inspector Max Jim Tria.

It also confirmed that Police Officer 1 Joseph Sagonoy was shot at close range with a pistol.

“Stop calling the Mamasapano tragedy a misencounter, as it is now clear that it was a massacre as revealed by the gruesome video showing how the SAF officers were brutally executed by armed men,” Senator Chiz Escudero said.
