Army troopers prevented NPA in conducting attacks

“We will not allow them to continue intimidating the communities and launch anti-development atrocities that will hamper the delivery of development and socio economic growth in the countryside,” Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command Lieutenant General Aurelio Baladad said.

Troopers from 84th Infantry Battalion prevented NPA from conducting further attacks after an encounter with the rebel group occurred in Sitio Puting Bato, Sumalili, Arakan, North Cotabato early in the morning today.

“The twenty-minute fire fight erupted after the patrolling troops securing the construction of Bukidnon- Davao road sent to verify the reported consolidation was fired upon by the NPAs,” EASTMINCOM said.

One AK 47 rifle, Colt 45 pistol, 2 Hand Grenades, Rifle Grenade, 10 Jungle Packs, Medical Kit, 3 short magazine assembly for M16 w/ ammunition were left by the rebels.

The said Command also discovered two IEDs in separate events.
