Abu Sayyaf lost 8 in recent clash with government forces

Troops from Joint Task Force Sulu had an encounter with at least one hundred bandits of Abu Sayyaf terror group mid-day today in Sitio Kan Islam, Brgy. Buhanginan in Patikul, Sulu while in a law enforcement operation.

Reports say that the terror group was led by Radulan Sahiron, Hairulah Asbang and Amlon Abtahi. The government troops, 35th Infantry Battalion, from JTF-Sulu was led by Major Ibni Saddama.

“Eight members of the Abu Sayyaf were killed and 11 soldiers were wounded,” Inquirer.net reports. AFP Public Affairs Office chief Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc said one of the soldier is in critical condition. Philippine Air Force was able to provide close air support to troops fighting on ground.

On Thursday, 32nd Infantry Battalion of Lt. Col. Gregorio Nieveras had already killed two bandits and seized five high-powered firearms after a 30-minute clash.
