Presidential Spokesman: Refrain from adding to the grief of our countrymen

“I appeal to the Manila Standard to get your facts straight and not rely on imagination of your sources or spin doctors,” this is the message of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas belying a report of the said news outlet.

MST’s source said Roxas demanded that President Benigno Aquino III sack suspended national police chief Alan Purisima and Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa in an emergency meeting sought by Roxas himself on Tuesday. It added that the President’s refusal angered Roxas.

Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Edwin Lacierda also released a statement. “This article is premised on something that never took place.” He added that the meeting mentioned in the news article did not pushed through.

The spokesman also appealed “during a time of mourning for our country, we call upon all sectors to practice prudence and refrain from adding to the grief of our countrymen.”
