Joint Task Force-Sulu spearheaded by Colonel Alan Arrojado had an encounter with Abu Sayyaf bandits today. “The operating troops of the 32nd Infantry Battalion led by Lt. Col. Gregorio Nieveras killed two bandits and seized five high-powered firearms after a 30-minute clash that transpired at about 9am today,” Armed Forces of the Philippines said today.
Western Mindanao Command information officer Capt. Ma. Rowena Muyuela said one of the killed bandits was identified as Murasil a mid-level leader of the terror group and a trusted aide of Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan.
No casualty on the side of government forces was reported.
“General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. has directed the troops to relentlessly pursue the bandits deep inside their jungle lair in the hinterlands of Patikul, Sulu,” the AFP said as posted on its official website.
