A Philippine Air Force Bell UH-1 Iroquois, commonly known as Huey helicopter crashed in Cagayan de Oro City today. GMA News Online reports “the crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. at the 4th Infantry Diamond Division at Camp Evangelista in Barangay Patag,” as told by Joane Tabique-Abesamis from Northern Mindanao.
The incident injured two pilots whose name are not yet known. The helicopter is carrying 4th Infantry Division commander Major General Oscar Lactao and information officer Major Christian Uy.
Huey helicopters are acting as Philippine Air Force’s utility helicopters. Roles these helicopters can assume include ground attack, cargo, MEDEVAC, command and control, and troop transport.
