The Commission on Human rights is currently conducting its own independent investigation on Mamasapano clash that left 44 Philippine police forces, 18 MILF combatants and at least 5 civilians including a 5-year old girl dead, and an undetermined number of combatant and civilians wounded, the commission said.
“This is an independent probe; we would like to get to the bottom of the incident, who are the actors, who are the victims of human rights violations, this is our mandate,” CHR Chairpeson Loreta Ann Rosales told reporters.
CHR Central Office team will be heading to the clash site. Rosales said that they will be getting statements from civilians. She emphasized that the commission will investigate to know who violated human rights.
