“The President was actually monitoring the operation [against Malaysian terrotist Zulkifli bin Hir alias Mar-wan] . Everything was being reported to him in real time,” a source of Daily Tribune said.
Sources of the said paper claim that President Aquino called Presidential Adviser on Peace Process Teresita Deles to arrange for a cease fire during the early hours of gun fight between Special Action Force troopers and Muslim rebels from Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
“If the President could make a call so early in the morning to Deles so she could in turn call on the monitoring teams to call for a ceasefire, why can’t he make a call to ask the Armed Forces to send reinforcement for the beleaguered SAF personnel?” one source of Daily Tribune hinted.
“Because he was advised by Deles not to do so. They were so obsessed with the peace agreement, they want to save the Bangsamoro Basic Law as they believe it was the last piece for Aquino to earn the Nobel Peace Prize,” the unnamed source claimed.
Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process belies the said allegation.
Office of the President calls to “avoid spreading unverified rumors and fueling speculation” as a Board of Inquiry is working to uncover all the details surrounding this incident.
