Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division, Kampilan Division, is on high alert to prevent Muslim rebels and followers of Marwan from launching retaliatory attacks. This is in connection with the recent Mamasapano clash.
Kampilan Division is based at Camp BGen Gonzalo H. Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. “Our move was meant to contain the situation and for us to prevent armed men from launching attacks,” 6ID spokesperson Captain Jo-anne Petinglay as quoted by NDBCnews.com.ph.
According to report, the military deployed dozens of tanks along stretches of the Cotabato-General Santos Highway in Maguindanao and established roadblocks.
Supporters of Marwan warned of retaliatory attacks after few of their men died in the said clash. They also confirmed the death of one of US-FBI’s most wanted international terrorists Malaysian Zulkifli Bin Hir also known as Marwan.
Marwan got supporters from Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.
