Honest Police Inspector in Mindanao returns P100-thousand

“I am assigned with the PNP-12 police community relations officer. I should serve as model,” Police Inspector Rafael Banggay Jr. told a local radio station. He accidentally received PhP100-thousand from a bank teller.

On January 15, Banggay went to a branch of Land Bank of the Philippines in Koronadal City to cash out his PhP100-thousand check.

The teller gave him one bundle of PhP1,000 bills and another bundle of PhP500 bills both tagged with PhP50-thousand. Later he found out that the teller gave him twice the amount of his check, his quick reaction was his money gave birth (“nanganak ang pera ko”).

On that same day, the police inspector returned to the bank to meet the manager and the teller and returned the excess cash. “What is not mine will never me mine,” he said.

Banggay also noted that people from the bank were not aware of the said mistake until he notified them.
