Smart, Globe implement network interruptions during Pope’s visit

In an advisory, Smart Communications notified its users that its services will be interrupted in line for the Pope’s visit in the Philippines. “We apologize for the temporary interruption of mobile phone services earlier this evening which was ordered by government authorities in the interest of public safety.”

“In the interest of public safety, we have been instructed to by government authorities to temporarily suspend our wireless services/network operations in parts of Metro Manila and surrounding provinces,” the service provider said through its social networking page.

On the other hand, “if you’re in Manila, Pasay, Makati or Leyte, you may be having difficulty sending texts, making calls or connecting to the internet,” a Globe Telecom customer service representative told Ang Malaya Net.
