“The Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for the Protection of the Planet, Nicolas Hulot, will be in the Philippines from January 20 to 25 to prepare the visit of French President François Hollande in the first half of 2015,” Embassy of France in Manila said in a statement. Hollande’s visit will be the first official visit of a European head-of-state to Philippines
Hulot will also visit Tacloban and Guiuan, two of the provinces most devastated by Supertyphoon Yolanda in 2013. He will check on reconstruction projects conducted by French companies in areas hit by Supertyphoon Yolanda.
President Benigno S. Aquino III first visited France last September 2014. During the visit, Philippines and France deepens partnership in political, security, economic, and cultural spheres.
“We are truly looking forward to this visit so that President Hollande could see first hand the economic, political, and cultural opportunities here in the Philippines,” French Ambassador to Philippines Gilles Garachon said.
