AFP inks deal for two C-130T from US

High ranking officials from Armed Forces of the Philippines led by Assistant Chief-of-Staff for Logistics Major General Victor Bayani inspected two US Lockheed C-130T military transport aircraft the AFP is acquiring through Foreign Military Sale.

“General Bayani officially signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance on behalf of the government of the Philippines to procure the aircraft, with an anticipated delivery date in the first quarter of 2016,” US Embassy in Manila said in a statement.

US government sees the sale as part of its commitment to support Philippines in developing territorial defense and maritime security capabilities as well as enhancing ability for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

The purchase will cost USD55 million with US covering the USD20 million through its Foreign Military Financing.

Upon delivery, the Philippine Air Force will have a total of five C130s.
