Department of Foreign Affairs is now communicating with proper authorities to get updates on the reported sinking of a Bahamian-flagged cargo ship Bulk Jupiter in Vietnamese waters Friday.
“Our Embassy in Hanoi is coordinating with Vietnamese authorities to get confirmation and more details about the reported sinking of cargo ship Bulk Jupiter,” Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose said in a text message to media.
“As always, we stand ready to extend all necessary and appropriate assistance to the ship’s Filipino crew members and their families,” he added.
The said ship is bound for China from Malaysia. It has an all Filipino crew.
As reported by Vietnamese news site Tuoitrenews.vn, one survivor was rescued and two bodies were found as confirmed by Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center. Sixteen more Filipinos are missing.
