NPA rebels killed three unarmed government forces amid truce

New People’s Army rebels in Mabini town, Compostela Valley province shot down three unarmed government forces Monday morning. The attack came while the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines is in a holiday truce in line for the holiday season and papal visit.

Suspension of Offensive Military and Police Operations against the rebels is effective until January 19, 2015. On the side of NPA rebels, intermittent ceasefires have been declared from December 24, 25, 26, 31, January 1, 2015 and during the papal visit.

“The continued banditry attacks disproves the sugar-coated statements of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA. They claim that they are pursuing peace but their actions clearly contradict what they are saying,” says Major General Eduardo M. Año, commander of 10th Infantry Agila Division.
