Murder case filed against US serviceman Pemberton

City Prosecutor’s office of Olongapo has charged U.S. Marine Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton with murder with regards to the killing of a Filipino transgender, Jeffrey “Jennifer” Laude.

“It’s murder,” City Prosecutor Emily delos Santos told reporters. “You can see the kind of cruelty she (Laude) endured, the injuries she sustained. We believe we have a strong case.”

“He did not stop at badly beating her up and choking her. He made sure she suffered to her death. He deliberately and repeatedly plunged her head down the toilet until she breathe her last,” says in the 23-page resolution.

Pemberton is currently staying at in Armed Forces of the Philippines General Headquarters in Quezon City.
