Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III arrives at Busan, South Korea via Gimhae Air Base at 1:20 p.m., as reported by government-run news agency. Aquino will be in South Korea to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Republic of Korea 25th Anniversary Commemorative Summit.
On his first day, December 11, President Aquino met Republic of Korea President Park Geun-hye. The Korean President appreciates Aquino’s decision to continue the trip amid the devastation experienced by Philippines because of Typhoon Ruby. Both countries vowed to strengthen bilateral relations.
He also met Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Tommorow, December 12, two sessions will be held tackling ASEAN-ROK relationship’s future direction, and the cooperation on on-traditional security issues with emphasis on climate change and disaster risk management.
Aquino will also meet executives from Korea Aerospace Industries.
