De Lima answers Binay’s camp: No missing NBI files

There was no National Bureau of Investigation probe regarding the death of Raquel Ambrosio, former Makati vice mayor Ernesto Mercado’s live-in partner, therefore there are no NBI files missing, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima cleared out Friday, December 5.

“From what I gather from Diector Mendez, there are no NBI files to talk about simply because no investigation was conducted by NBI relative to that 2002 death,” de Lima said.

United Nationalist Alliance earlier said Mercado’s testimonies in Senate against Vice President Jejomar Binay is in exchange for the said NBI case folder which according to de Lima is not existing. “I hope Secretary Leila de Lima has a good excuse as to why the records of Raquel Ambrosio all of a sudden disappeared from the NBI vaults,” UNA interim secretary-general JV Bautista said.

“The straight path they have been telling us is actually crooked. If you are an ally of the administration and have a pending case, the records on your case will suddenly disappear. The truth is being distorted and concealed to protect their allies,” Bautista added.

According to police report in 2002, Ambrosio committed suicide by shooting herself in the stomach.
