Filipinos found dead after sinking of South Korean vessel

As of today, December 5, three Filipinos have been confirmed dead as reported by Department of Foreign Affairs after the sinking of a South Korean fishing vessel at Bering Sea in Russia.

First reported dead Filipino is Jessie Aluvera Londres, 25. Identities of two other will be released by DFA after their families are properly notified.

The Oriong-501, a 1,753-ton deep-sea fishing vessel, is owned by a South Korean fishering company Sajo Industries. There are 13 Filipino crewmen boarding the said vessel, three of them were already rescued.

Search and rescue still continues for possible survivors including seven more Filipinos. However, very bad weather condition and cold temperature hinder rescue teams in their mission.
